National CAMHS Support Service (NCSS)The National CAMHS Support Service (NCSS) is commissioned as a national service improvement and development programme by the Department of Health (DH) and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). Its purpose is to ensure that children's psychological health and wellbeing services are effectively commissioned and provided by local services in England. The NCSS is positioned to respond to the 2008 CAMHS Review recommendation that there should be a strengthened national programme approach to improving services. In order to do this, the NCSS works closely with other regional improvement resource teams. The NCSS programme supports the delivery of regional and national priorities relating to the CAMHS review, the Children's National Service Framework, Every Child Matters, the Child Health Promotion Programme, Healthy Lives Brighter Futures, Healthy Children Safer Communities, the 2020 Workforce Strategy and PSA 12.
